"It's Like God and Steve Jobs Got Together to Say, 'We Love You Phil!'" (and or Ty.)

Tyler's a bit of an Apple fan.

His pricey work-paid smartphone is a disappointment. It would be better if it were an iPhone.

Perhaps you are unaware, but Apple announced the iPad 2 yesterday. Tyler and Talmage sat on the couch and watched the infomercial for 30 minutes last night. "C'mon Laura! It's starting!" Tyler called to me in the kitchen.

I declined to watch the shiny new iPad propaganda, so I was regaled with a full play-by-play of the excitement.

"It's 30% thinner than the original iPad!" Tyler told me.

"Because the 12mm iPad was too thick?" I wondered aloud.

"Yeah!" exclaimed Tyler. "And it's 2 times as fast and has 8x the video power. I don't really know what that means, but it's a whole lot better. And the cover folds. And a magnet turns it on. And it has the front/back camera, but everyone expected that."

"When you put it in the TV, it shows you everything you do!" Talmage chimed in.

"Yeah," agreed Tyler. "And it has this instrument thing, so that it has strings you can digitally pluck. Also, a drum set that sounds louder the harder you hit your iPad."

"That doesn't seem to be very well thought through," I noted, imagining Talmage banging on the iPad with all his five-year-old might.

"Really, it makes my original iPad obselete. I think we need two. That way we could facetime. Did you know it comes out on March 11? It comes in white."

I know of one March 13 birthday boy who's going to be mighty disappointed.
